Good place for a special occasion

I like the decor of this restaurant. The chairs are comfortable, just the right lighting. There are not many places in Venice that are as classy as this one. Our party of 6 had reservations, we had excellent service, and great food. I had a sea bass special with lots of vegetables. I had a dessert that made me think, "this is the way a dessert ought to be". Big round scoop of raspberry ice cream dipped in chocolate to form a hard shell, and nicely presented on the plate. Others in our group had salmon that one said was the best prepared he had seen in a long time. The salads looked delicious, but I had a tomato basil soup that melted in your mouth. It was a Friday night, and the crowd was noisy for awhile, and there was live music. I had a Riesling from the State of Washington that was the sweetest Riesling I have ever tasted, but very good. They are part of the downtown Venice scene, which is pretty quiet, even on a Friday night. Lots of parking, and outdoor seating.

What Are Customers are Saying

My husband and I were recently on a trip to visit my in-laes in FL. We were out shopping in Venice and decided to stop for a low-key lunch. Most of the restaurants were packed so we decided to go to Cafe Venice as we have already been to a nearby Irish pub and were not impressed with the food.

They have a nice lunch menu of soups, salads and sandwiches. As it was lent, I asked the waitress if the kitchen could possibly make me a grilled cheese as it was not on the menu. The soup of the day was tomato basil and the pairing sounded wonderful. The kitchen was happy to honor my request and it was great! My husband also had the soup and paired it with a crabcake sandwich. He said that it was also great. We also split a cup of fruit which was fresh and delicious. I would definately go here again for lunch. I have also heard they have a wonderful dinner and even have live entertainment. Maybe next time!
