Bob Broman Wine Dinner
When:
January 24, 2010
Category:
Wine Dinners

Description

Broman Cellars is a lifelong dream realized by Bob Broman. After making wine for other folks for 30 plus years, Bob along with his wife Deborah, released their first Napa Valley wine, appropriately labeled, Broman Cellars. The inaugural release was a beautiful 1994 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon consisting of an entire 150 cases. Today, Broman Cellars is a family passion, with daughter Lisa also working side by side with Bob at the winery.  Production is now a whopping 1,300 cases consisting of small, ultra premium, hand-crafted lots of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc.

What Are Customers are Saying

We are Venice residents and are pleased that this restaurant has new management and staff. The menu is intriguing with a varied range of contemporary options and some Asian and Mediterranean leanings. It is a storefront with an unpretentious, white-tablecloth atmosphere. There is a small bar at the rear of the main room, and music from around 8 on the weekends. The wine list is not large, but seems well selected - at least we both liked our choices. We each had tapas, and should probably wait until we've had entrees to pass final judgment, but our impression was that the execution was all right, but not quite up to the menu's promise. For example, the scallops and shrimp on two different dishes were somewhat overdone. The portions are adequate, the menu descriptions accurate, the pricing reasonable to a little ambitious, and the staff competent. This is definiitely the second best restaurant in Venice at the moment, and a nice upgrade from the typical "waterfront dining" options that attract most tourists. We'll be back.
